Domestic Violence Programs invites everyone to their Open House on Saturday, October 3, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Their Thrift Store/Outreach Office in Melbourne will offer brand new clothing and other merchandise put out for the first time. SAFE PASSAGE QUILT RAFFLE
Three handmade quilts made from denim swatches are the prizes in the Safe Passage, Inc. Quilt Raffle this summer. The raffle for one king size, one queen size and one twin size will be held at the Safe Passage Thrift Store Open House on October 3. The Open House will be part of the Melbourne City Wide Yard Sale.
Lora Umphries-Buck, Executive Director of Safe Passage, made the quilts from jeans that were donated to the thrift store. Raffle tickets are $1 each or six for $5. SAFE PASSAGE THRIFT STORE MAKEOVER
Volunteers and staff at Safe Passage, Inc. Thrift Store in Melbourne have completely reorganized the store. Over the past few months, they have added 280 square feet of display space and over 50 feet of new racks.
“We now have a housewares and bedding room, a toy display area and an Individually Priced room for new and high quality merchandise,” said Executive Director Lora Umphries-Buck. “Our back hallway now offers furniture for sale.”
Recently, over 90 gowns and wedding dresses were donated to the store. “Most of these gowns have never been worn. They have the original price tags,” she said. “They would make great prom or pageant dresses.”
Every Wednesday is Bag Sale; $1.00 a bag for most men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, limit ten items per bag. Also on Wednesdays, shoes and books (not including Best Sellers) are 10 for $1.00. Every day, inspirational non-fiction books are free.
